09 Mar ConnecTA 2012 – Annual Turkish American Networking Event was a huge success
California Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (CATA Chamber) hosted ConnecTA 2012 – 3nd Annual Networking Event, bringing Turkish and American businesspeople together at Hilton Costa Mesa on September 17, 2012.
Among distinguished participants were United States Congressman Ed Royce, United States Congressman Joe Baca, United States Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, United States Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, California State Senator Alan Lowenthal, California State Assemblyman Allan Mansour, California State Assemblyman Paul Cook, Deputy General Director at Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkiye Hayati Cetin, Secretary General of TUSKON (Turkish Cofideration of Businessmen and Industrialists) Mustafa Gunay, President of University of Altın Koza and Chairman of Yunus Emre Institute Ali Fuat Bilkan, delegation of GESİAD, (Gebze Industrialists and Businessman Association) and delegation of AKTİF. (Aktife Industrialists and Businessmen Association).
Over 280 business people and more than 200 firms met in ConnecTA 2012. Almost 90 of attendees and firms came from Turkey to join this event.
The program started with exhibitions where companies introduced their businesses to the participants and followed with panel and workshop. The topic of the panel presented by Hakan Tasçı from TUSKON and Hakan Kaya from KAYATAX was“Doing Business in the US” and other panel which was “Investment Opportunities in Turkiye, Government Incentives”presented by Gurkan Suzer and Murat Goren Commercial Attachés Office of The Consulate General of The Republic of Turkiye in Los Angeles, and the workshop with the topic “Strategic Connection and Deal Flow “ presented by Scott Hamilton president/CEO of ENP Institute.
President of CATA Chamber highlighted in his welcoming speech the mission of CATA Chamber, and the facilitating role of CATA Chamber in bilateral trade relations between Turkiye and California. He said, “CATA Chamber’s special thanks to several organizations like Orange County Business Council, Irvine Chamber of Commerce, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, CleanTech and OCTANe played a keyrole in helping ConnecTA be a success.”
Following the speech of Dr. Oten, Matthew Jenusaitis, President/CEO of OCTANe delivered a presentation about healthcare and medical devices, information technology, and clean technology in LA. ISPAT(Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkiye) presented the fundamentals of Turkish economy and opportunities offered by the Turkish domestic and regional markets for the American corporations.
Deputy General Director at Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkiye, presented facts about energy production and consumption of Turkiye and investment incentives of goverment. Afterwards, Mustafa Gunay,Secretary General of TUSKON, stated that there is an important potential between Turkiye and U.S. in terms of business and investments.
Fatma Yuceler, General Manager of Turkish Airlines and Albert Sherrer, President/CEO of Ryan’s Express received this year’s CATA Chamber Award for their contributions to bilateral relations between Turkiye and the United States.
TUSKON, ENP Institute, Beyond 15, GESIAD, AKTIF, Abraham Tekin, Hayati Cetin received special CATA Chamber Plate for their active and constructive role in the business world.
CATA Chamber board members and delegation of AKTİF and GESİAD held a meeting with Senator Curren Price, City of Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang, City of Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, and visited Orange County Business Council, Irvine Chamber of Commerce, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Canyon Power Plant in the following days.They have moved to San Francisco and visited Facebook, Yahoo and Intel.
